This DLL is executed through DLL-hijacking, exploiting the legitimate process of “require.exe” to download Byakugan’s main module, misleadingly named “chrome.exe”. In another variant of the attack, bogus installers for Adobe Acrobat Reader are used to distribute Byakugan. Victims are tricked into clicking a URL to download the Reader application to view content in a PDF file, leading to the delivery of an installer that activates the infection sequence.
