What is Tail Finder

Tail Finder is the name of a search hijacker, which modifies browsing settings in favor of data collection. Although developers claim it provides more features that improve the browsing experience, reality looks completely different. This browser hijacker does not generate unique results, instead, it simply capitalizes upon legitimate engines like Yahoo, Google, or Bing. During the study, It has been spotted redirecting queries through tailsearch.com to one of the engines listed above. Usually, such chains are meant to generate non-existing traffic bringing illegal profit to the developers. Also, if you dig into permissions provided to Tail Finder, it will be clear that it is capable of reading and changing your data on various websites. This, therefore, leads to data-surveillance and the promotion of suspicious content like ads. Unfortunately, some users cannot handle browser hijackers on their own as there are certain values reinstalling the app all the time. This is why we have created a list of instructions below to help you get rid of Tail Finder once and for all.

How Tail Finder infected your computer

Browser hijackers and other Potentially Unwanted Programs are known to be distributed via so-called “bundles”. This type of technique implies using freeware repacks to promote unwanted software. Because lots of users misuse downloading cracked and pirated software, extortionists can cover a large number of victims. For example, you have downloaded a pirated program from a dubious website. Then, as usual, you execute the setup file to install a program. Because most people neglect reading Terms of use and checking additional sections (“Advanced/Custom”) that include unwanted programs, they end up infected without consent. To make sure you are secure from such infections in the future, follow our tutorial below.
