What is D3adCrypt Ransomware

D3adCrypt encrypts system-stored data (with the .d3ad extension) and demands victims to pay a monetary ransom for its return. For instance, a file like 1.pdf will become 1.pdf.d3ad resetting its original icon as well. There is also a ransom note being created (d3ad_Help.txt), which explains victims how they can return access to files.

All your files have been encrypted!
If you want to restore them, write us to the e-mail => d3add@tutanota.com
Write this ID in the title of your message => -
In case of no answer in 24 hours write us to this e-mail => propersolot@gmail.com
Attention!
Do not rename encrypted files.
Do not try to decrypt your data using third party software, it may cause permanent data loss.
Decryption of your files with the help of third parties may cause increased price (they add their fee to our) or you can become a victim of a scam.

It is said victims should write an e-mail with their personal ID to the provided d3add@tutanota.com address. In case nobody responds, there is an extra e-mail victim should contact as well (propersolot@gmail.com). Cybercriminals conclude the ransom message with warnings against renaming files, decrypting files on your own, or trying to involve the help of third-party entities. Note that the price for decryption is kept secret until victims establish further communication with cybercriminals. It is also possible for the price to vary depending on how much informational damage victims suffered during encryption. Usually, cyber experts do not recommend paying the ransom – extensive researches show that many extortionists fool their victims and do not provide them with promised decryption tools. Alas, there are no feasible ways to decrypt your data at the moment of writing this article. It may become possible in the future, but no one can say when. You can try some trusted and globally-used tools from our guide below, but there is no guarantee they will be able to actually help. For now, the best way you can avoid paying the ransom and recover your data at the same time – is via backup copies. If there are such available on external storage devices, you can easily use them to replace your encrypted data. However, before doing this, it is important to delete the virus so that it no longer continues its encryption procedures. Instructions on everything mentioned are located in the guidelines below.

How D3adCrypt Ransomware infected your computer

It is very common for cybercriminals to use various phishing and social engineering techniques to distribute infections. This list includes proliferation via malicious e-mail spam letters, deceptive download pages, fake software cracking tools, fake updates/installers, trojans, and other channels like these. The main trait shared between all the abused channels is cybercriminals’ attempts to disguise malicious content as something legitimate or important. For instance, e-mail spam letters may be delivered under the names of popular companies (e.g. DHL, FedEx, banks, etc.). Such messages may ask you to open some attachment or link under the pretense of doing something urgent. Unfortunately, instead of doing what such messages claim, the humbleness of users will simply allow them to execute malware of various sorts (ransomware included). Thus, it is important to keep a distance away from such content and protect yourself with high-quality anti-malware software. You can explore more information on this along with instructions in our tutorial below.
