What is ShopHelper

Developed by Brightcircle Investments Ltd, ShopHelper is a browser add-on meant to alleviate online shopping. It adds a number of features that help users save time and money on buying goods from Amazon, Aliexpress, and other retail platforms like that. This browser add-on is currently available for Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox. Unfortunately, the biggest drawback of such add-ons comes with their adware abilities. Apart from showing lucrative coupons and sales on different websites, it may also display untrustworthy ads related to browsing habits. Plus, there is also a risk of unreliable privacy terms. In other words, developers behind ShopHelper may track personal data without users’ permission for revenue goals. Thus, data like passwords, IP addresses, geolocations, and more can be redirected to external servers held by third-party figures. Note that ShopHelper is not a virus, but an unwanted program that should not be trusted by users. This is why our recommendation is to delete ShopHelper from your browser. If you are unable to do it, follow our tutorial below.

How ShopHelper infected your computer

In addition to having suspicious capabilities, software like ShopHelper is often distributed without consent. This is one more downside of these add-ons as they are installed against users’ will. Developers collaborate with popular download pages (e.g. download.com, softonic.com, soft32.com, etc.) to bundle their add-ons along with other programs. Users that download cracked or pirated apps are often the risk zone of such infections. When users execute the installation of downloaded software, they are often oblivious to additional offers that might be hidden inside. Sometimes they are presented within “Advanced” or “Custom” sections. Sadly, because most users unintentionally miss, or end up deceived into installing such add-ons due to proclaimed benefits, they are forced to deal with unwanted or, at times, aggressive behavior of such applications. If you ever stumble into such offers again, be it whilst installing a program or browsing the web, try to avoid them eventually. Below, we have attached a complete guide towards removing ShopHelper and securing yourself from such threats in the future.
